Suggested questions
Where the suggested questions on the Reasoning page come from, and how to get better ones.
When you land on Reasoning with no question typed, you see a list of suggested questions. They're not generic — they reference real columns, segments and metrics from your project's data.
This page explains how they're generated and how to influence them.
How they're generated
When a project has at least one ready source, the platform builds a brief that includes:
- The project's function and the personas tied to it.
- The project's vertical pack (CPG D2C, marketplace, SaaS, generic).
- A short summary of each source — name, row count, important columns, sample values.
- Known metrics and conventions from the project's ontology.
- The project's description (if you set one in settings).
The platform then generates 3–6 questions that:
- Reference real column names, channels, or segments from your data.
- Stand alone (a teammate could read just the question and understand it).
- Imply a specific investigation, not a vague exploration.
Each question is between 10 and 200 characters, picked to fit the persona mix of your function.
When they refresh
- Whenever a source is added or removed (so new data immediately produces new suggestions).
- When you change the project's function or vertical pack.
- When you edit the project description.
Suggestions are cached on the project until a triggering change happens — so they don't shift between page loads for no reason.
Fallback suggestions
If a project has no usable data yet — no sources, or sources still processing — the platform falls back to a function-specific starter set so the empty state is still useful. Each function ships with four starter questions: Marketing, Sales, Customer, Product, Growth, People & Org, Decision Intelligence, Other.
The starter questions are generic but well-formed; once your data lands, fresh data-aware suggestions replace them.
How to get better suggestions
- Write a project description. A one-paragraph "this project covers D2C growth for our hair-care line" gives the generator real grounding.
- Use the right function. A growth-marketing project on the Sales function will get Sales-flavoured suggestions.
- Add sources before relying on suggestions. Empty projects get the starter set.
- Re-run with a different vertical pack if your default detection is off — Settings → Vertical pack.
Suggestions vs trackers
A suggested question is a one-shot invitation. If you find yourself asking the same suggested question repeatedly, convert it to a tracker — once-a-week or daily — and stop asking.
